Perfect for a short stay in Kyoto!

I loved the traditional style, the air con, being able to store gear and the wonderful friendly host!

The bathrooms being on the ground floor while rooms being on the next level. Understand it’s just an old style.

Would gladly stay there again.

A classic japanese room with paper walls, paper sliding door, and very low furniture. The staff is very nice and helpful. The location and pricing is top notch. All in all a great experience!

I really enjoyed my stay here. Owner was really nice, friendly and approachable.

Everything was beautiful. Traditional Japanese house. Nice experience. Close to station and a beautiful temple nearby.

Loved it! Already thinking about booking again^^

The staff was so friendly and helpful with everything! Very clean, towels and a yukata for guest, common kitchen area with tea, coffe, little snaks and a refrigerator. Communication in english was available and on a high level, so no trouble for non-japanese speakers.

The walls are thin, so noisy room neighbours could be a problem. But that comes with staying at a traditional place like this and I did not have this problem during my stay.

This is really nice hotel. It is affordable and clean. The lady who owns the place is very nice indeed. The aesthetic is refreshingly Japanese which is cool. There is so much around to see, very worth while staying here.

A great choice!

Very good place for your stay in Kyoto. Traditional Japanese house, superbly decorated, close to the train station and a metro station. The staff speaks perfect English so easy for communication.

I enjoyed staying at THE GUEST INN CHITA

It was a nice experience to stay with them, the owner very friendly and kind. The house is traditional style, feel like a local when I stayed there.

The only thing is if you talking, the next room can hear you.

It exceeded my expectations, and I would be more than happy to stay there again.

I regret not staying for more days. The room was a lot bigger than I expected and the bed was really comfortable. The staff was really lovely as well and we had a good conversation. The staff that I talked to spoke English really well.

I felt like the shower room could be a little cleaner.

lovely older style house in perfect location

The property is an older Japanese house in an excellent location.Kahori is a wonderful host making you feel totally at home. Everything about it was clean and comfortable even the futon. There's tea and instant coffee provided with full use if a kitchen.

There are stairs to the toilet and bathroom if you have any physical issues it maybe a problem.

Would stay again

I booked a single room and it was so big. Yes it faced the street but since I was out during the day and only got back around 9PM, noise wasn't a problem. Very clean and nice, room has a proper lock. Futon was crazy comfortable (though on the softer side so depends on your preference). Location was quite good around 5-10min to the bus station (of course you do have to commute to go to any of the tourist places).

It's an old wooden house, so I felt so self conscious about my footsteps cause the house would shake. Washrooms are stalls like in a public bathroom (ie there's a gaps) except it was unisex so I personally would have preferred floor to ceiling stalls. Also they were having wifi problems the two days I stayed, but I had my own hotspot so I just used data.

Very Good

It was a very nice stay in a traditional style japanese home. The Futon was very comfortable and they provide a Yukata, toothbrush, towel and several other amenities, so it was quite convenient. It is located not too far from Kyoto station so you can walk there in 5-10 minutes and it's easy too find as well. The staff was very nice and the owner speaks english really well, so I had some nice chats with her! :)

Best ever

One of the greatest places I stayed at in Japan. The old Japanese townhouse felt so homey. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. She helped me with planning some nice special visits throughout Kyoto that I otherwise would have missed. Facilities are great too; there's a full equipped kitchen with fridge, oven and microwave for you to use and a cosy Japanese style sitting area. The roof terrace was great as well for chilling after a busy day. The futon was, surprisingly, very comfortabel (more so than other futons I slept on). Moreover, the location is superb, close to the station and many restaurants and convenient stores. Around the corner is a bike rental (highly recommended).

There's really nothing I didn't like per se, but if I have to mention something it's that there were only three toilets and two shower rooms. Though I actually never had to wait for the toilet, the showers can get a bit busy in the evening.

The house is very traditional and have spacious rooms. The staff and owner were very helpful and friendly. Kahori San was very helpful in getting me a taxi to go to a station, she saved me on a rainy evening! I would definitely come back here. Thank you so much
